In the 8th Binational Meeting of Argentina and Chile Ministers that took place in Buenos Aires on December 16th with the presence of both ambassadors, they agreed in the “identification of marine areas of mutual interest for the conservation of the ecosystem” in boundary areas between these countries.
The Forum for the conservation of the Patagonian Sea and Areas of influence has identified some areas of importance for the biodiversity in the southern area of the Patagonian Sea. The position that Governments adopted is, consequently, welcome and held by the organizations of Argentina and Chile that conforms the Forum. A marine area destined to science and conservation that serves as a laboratory to understand adaptations of common species is an urgent and necessary idea.
The organizations members of the Forum are at the disposal of Governments to support the initiative in what is necessary and possible.
